2017 brought a lot of wonderful travel opportunities to our team here at She’s On The Go. We got to see beautiful beaches, magnificent mountain ranges, magical Castles, and so much more; we really covered the gamut of scenery and experiences. Throughout all of our journeys, we were able to capture some special places and special moments that fed our souls as well as our neverending wanderlust spirit. Here are some of She’s On The Go team’s favorite photos of 2017:
Fadra – Both of these photos came from Maine and it wasn’t hard to pick this destination as one of my favorite travel photography spots. It’s hard to take a bad picture anywhere in the state! My two favorites…
The view of Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park. While we waited for our lunch reservation at this well-known park restaurant, we caught a beautiful view of the rock formations surrounding the pond.
We traveled to the northern border of Maine for a less crowded, more intimate whale watching trip in the Bay of Fundy. It was everything I hoped it would be but I was completely enthralled by the seals staring right back at me!
Cam – This year was full of travel. After visiting six countries, we finished out the year with a trip to Aulani in Hawaii. This is our favorite family vacation spot for when you just want to relax and not worry about a thing. Aulani is the perfect vacation spot because it has just enough Disney for the kids and makes the adults feel like they are on a true Hawaiian holiday. Aulani has become our home away from home, and I was thrilled to make this our last stop of the year.
As a wife and mother, I haven’t taken a whole lot of time where it’s just me. Me being able to do something that is all about… well, me. This year I took a trip to Italy with two of my best friends. We ate, shopped, and recharged. My favorite 2017 moment was having a beautiful meal in Tuscany on the rooftop Gucci Cafe. The sun was shining, the food was amazing, the shopping was fantastic and most of all, the company couldn’t have been better.
Kendra – Hogwarts is one of my favorite places in the whole world. I know that it is in a theme park in Florida but it represents so much more. After 5 trips experiencing this on my own I FINALLY took my kids and experienced their joy! “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real?” –The Deathly Hallows – It is real to us!
On a girls trip to St. George, Utah this spring we went to The Red Mountain Resort and walked the zen garden. I am NOT typically a person to do something so “spiritual” but the rest of the group wanted to do it so I agreed. You enter and walk a circular maze thinking about 1 thing that you want to let go of (animosity, anger, resentment toward someone/something), and then as you walk out you think about something that you want to let in (love, understanding, acceptance for someone/something). I went in thinking it was the worst exercise ever and came out with a totally different attitude. This photo reminds me to let the bad go and to let the good in.
Patty – Hanging out on the Sunrise Coast of Michigan brings views like this into your world. Wow. During a trip to Michigan, I got up every morning to watch the sun come up over Lake Huron.
My favorite friend to travel the World or Land is a fellow travel blogger named Tania Lamb. (who also happens to be a contributor on She’s On The Go too) This picture captured on our last trip together in 2017 shows why I love our adventures. My wish for your 2018: Find someone who makes you laugh and book a trip!
Emelia – This was my first visit to Italy and I had heard such great things about Florence. I knew I wanted to “climb to the top of the Duomo”, but I still wasn’t entirely sure what that even meant. I rounded a corner and there standing in front of me, basking in the sunlight, was the Duomo. It was magnificent! At that moment I understood that I would get to climb to the top of that dome and have the most breathtaking view. I went to Italy with my best girlfriend and it was one of the most amazing trips of my entire life.
The Hands in Venice – I had never been to Venice, Italy before, but stalked it on Instagram frequently. These hands represented so much to me of how cool Venice was, so seeing them in person was amazing. They were even larger and more beautiful in person. Looking at the photo now reminds me how hard work can make even the craziest of dreams come true.
Megan – We had been talking about going to Disney with my kids and my parents for years but due to a variety of circumstances, it has never worked out. This year we decided to make it happen and we visited Disney in April. This picture is a favorite of mine because it features me, my husband, our five kids and my parents on a trip that was a decade in the making.
Tania – This is one of my favorite pictures of 2017 because it was an unconventional and successful road trip for our family. We took our time to enjoy the earth. These are two of my daughters enjoying the view as they chat during a pit stop from the Grand Canyon on our way to Lake Powell.
Susan – This year was full of amazing people and places so it was really hard for me to pick my favorite photos from such a big batch of beauty. Emerald Lake in Canada was truly one of the most spectacular places I have ever visited. The water was an unbelievable shade of blue/green and the surrounding mountains made it look like you were wandering around inside of a painting. One of the best parts of my trip though was being able to see the beautiful sights of Banff National Park with my dear friend Sarah from Solo Mom Takes Flight.
This past summer I traveled to the U.K. with my daughter, one of her friends, and my niece. One of the highlights of the trip was our visit to London. It’s such a lively and lovely City and I was thrilled to get lost in the culture and charm of this part of the world with my family.
Another of my favorites is a photo that I took in my hometown. I love the Fall here in the Hamptons and this photo reminds me that, even though I travel all over the world, there is beauty right here in my own backyard.
Andrea – Visiting Charleston, SC with a friend was definitely one of my favorite trips this past year. I love walking around and exploring a City, but another great way to see the city and learn about its rich history is by carriage…. and when the weather is nice, there’s nothing better!
Another highlight this year was a trip to Washington, D.C. with family. We had such a great stay at One Washington Circle Hotel and the view of the Circle was incredible!
